Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Today, we want to first congratulate and welcome Ben Menenberg as Special Hope Network’s new Board Chair.  Ben and his wife, Laura (Special Hope’s US Director of Operations), have been friends of Special Hope for four years and have participated in our ministry in a variety of capacities.  Ben has been Treasurer on the Board during the past two years, and in his new role as Board Chair, he will immediately begin working more closely with the leadership team on important strategic issues affecting Special Hope.  Ben and Laura are also adoptive parents of a Zambian child with intellectual disabilities and thus have a unique understanding of the opportunities and challenges Special Hope is called to address.  We have asked him to make his first official comment about today’s important significance:

“Today, Special Hope Network joins people around the world to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.  This is an important day to celebrate the work being done by Special Hope and other organizations to improve inclusion for people living with disabilities.  It is also a great opportunity to share with your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers about the exceptional home, health, and education services which Special Hope provides children and caregivers in Lusaka.  Finally, it is a day to thank you – all of our wonderful supporters who give sacrificially to make our ministry possible – thank you for giving to support our ministry.  Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities Day!”
