Thoughts from Educational Specialist Hilda Penge

Hilda works with children at the Resource Center. She teaches them academic, communication, and adaptive skills one-on-one and in small groups.

My name is Hilda Penge, I heard about Special Hope Network (SHN) through a friend who has a child with a disability, she attends Garden Community Care Center. She told me about how the organization helps and supports children with disabilities. This encouraged me to apply for a job to be part of the team supporting children with disabilities.

Working with these kids has changed my life such that I have learned a lot of things that I didn’t know before I joined the organization. I have come to understand that having a disability doesn’t mean that a child cannot do anything, just that they need support in their areas of weakness. I have developed so much passion for children with disabilities because of interacting with these kids. Seeing them doing academic work and other daily life skills gives me strength and courage to continue working.

Lastly, I would love to encourage people out there to support such organizations as Special Hope Network. God bless you.
