Hey there, and welcome to my post on the Special Hope blog.  I am a speech pathologist in my clinical fellowship year - a year of supervised practicing required after earning your master's degree in speech pathology before you can become certified to practice on your own.  I have been in Zambia since August this year, and what a feat it is to put that experience thus far into a single blog post. But I’m going to try my best....

My time with Special Hope not only gave me a chance to work with children who have disabilities across the world, but showed me how disability is no different across the world or in a different culture; God created, loves, and works through every child and adult no matter how they were made and Special Hope is presenting that idea to Lusaka, one child at a time....

We are very excited to announce that we are one of the winners of the Disability and Inclusion Challenge for organizations doing unique work with children around the world who have disabilities. We found out yesterday after a few months of different rounds of application, where the IDEO folks moved from almost 500 ideas, down to 82 shortlisted ones, to the final decision that we are one of six winning organizations!
